Dane Paterson: South African pace setter signs new two-year contract with Nottinghamshire

Dane Paterson

The 33-year-old South African has claimed 145 wickets in all formats over the past two summers.

He took 56 with the red ball this year as Notts won promotion by finishing top of the County Championship Division Two.

"I'm excited to be back next year and continuing this journey together - we have the ingredients to continue succeed," he told the club's website.

"I know you have to savor environments like this where everyone is on the same page and enjoying their cricket, and win the title of Division 2 this year was the reward for the efforts of everyone involved."

Paterson played two tests, four one-day and eight international T20s for South Africa between 2017 and 2020.

"His skill and power with the ball has been outstanding, and it is to his credit that he has maintained these high levels of performance and intensity over two campaigns," said the head coach of Notts, Peter Moores.

"What you don't see is part of adversity; the way it plays despite the pain after recovering annoys, raising his hand to play uphill or in the wind, and has spent a lot of time away from his family at home.

"It gives you exactly what you are looking for in a foreign player; someone who can make a difference on the pitch, but who really embraces the dressing room culture and who also passes on his experience."
