Danny Briggs: Warwickshire spin bowler to undergo knee surgery

Briggs will miss the T20 International League in January when he was due to play for the Sharjah Warriors.

The 31-year-old suffered pain in his right knee this summer, but this subsided following an injection and he was able to continue playing.

"We believe this is the best course of action before next season," said the first-team coach of the Bears, Mark Robinson.

"It's disappointing for Danny because we know how much he was looking forward to testing his skills in the UAE."

Briggs won 31 County Championship wickets in 13 games as the Bears earned their Division 1 status on the last day of the 2022 season.

He also picked up 18 for Birmingham Bears in the T20 Blast and two for Oval Invincibles in The Hundred.< /p>Sam Hain in the Big Bash for Bri sbane Heat at the 2022-23 Big Bash which kicks off next month, for a 12th season.

Hong Kong -born Hain, who grew up in Queensland, has been signed as a replacement for one of the club's other international signings, Sam Billings and Colin Munro, who are only available until early January. The Heat also have Hampshire's Ross Whiteley in their squad.

Hain, who represented Australia at under-19 level, played for the Lions at England in all three formats.< /p>

He made 2,729 T20 runs for the Bears in 92 matches and has a career T20 strike rate of 131.47.
