David Bruckner Sees No 'Return to' the Friday the 13th Franchise

In our friend Patrick Cavanaugh's interview, Bruckner touched emotionally on the possibility of resurrecting Jason:

"It's like approaching the actor in an audition, you just have to walk away at a certain point and put it behind you. Plus, I spent a lot of time there. I've worked with some wonderful writers, I think, and I've changed. Those ideas don't interest me in quite the same way that they did with the work that we've done in particular, but I am a fan of the franchise."

It must seem like an eternity for Bruckner, who worked on developing a new "Friday the 13th" in 2014 and 2015. There's a lot more depth for him as a storyteller and filmmaker at this point, making it more unlikely that he would ever want to help create another kill at Camp Blood. He gave some insight into the challenge of working with such an established property, adding, "I think if you're working on IP, whether it's 'Hellraiser' or 'Friday the 13th', that's not mine, that belongs to everyone."

And Bruckner is well aware that the blame doesn't stop with him:

"There will be more, there will be more Friday the 13th movies. They will understand, IP is too valuable. Fans want too much." p>
