David Harbour: 'It's definitely time' to end 'Stranger Things'

David Harbor is ready to anchor his "Stranger Things" arc.

The actor tackled the upcoming fifth and final season of the viral Netflix series, with the finale nearly a decade away.

"The funny thing is, when I started the show, I never wanted it to end. That's why I love the show," Harbor said. think it's a great show, even though I wasn't there. We're now almost nine years into filming the first season, and I think it's time for it to wrap up. But it is of course very bittersweet. You know, there's sadness in that."

Harbour continued, "But also, we've all grown up. It's time for us to leave this nest and try other things and other projects. And let the Duffer Brothers try different things as well. I mean, these guys are so talented. I want to see what they come up with next. So it's bittersweet, but it's definitely time."

While the Duffer Brothers already have several 'Stranger Things' spinoffs in the works, the filmmaking duo revealed that their pitch for the final season of 'Stranger Things' brought Netflix execs to tears.

Harbour, which will balance filming 'Stranger Things' with the upcoming MCU movie 'Thunderbolts' this summer, added that the Netflix series "had to go" as its young cast ages.

"We have to go because the kids are growing up, we have to shoot this thing!" Harbor recalled. "Then the 'Thunderbolts' came along, and I was terrified. I was like, 'Oh my God, if these things don't work, and I can't make one?' Fortunately, the producers of both really makes it work. They went to great lengths to make it work, but that means I'm going to have to go back and forth between sets in Atlanta, sticking to this crazy schedule."

Harbour previously speculated on what the Duffer Brothers might have in store for his "Stranger Things" alter-ego Hopper, wondering if the character would ever find his much-deserved peace.

“But the real question you have to ask yourself is, are the Duffers Dickens? Or are they Kafka-esque?” Harbor says. “Do they believe in the big turkey dinner at the end of 'A Christmas? Carol"? I wonder, you know? I'm very curious to see how it goes."
