District 9 Director Shooter, Battle of Red Light District Decentraland: Web3 Gamer

Trouble is brewing in the hot region of Decentraland called District X.

The ongoing dispute between the Chief of District X and a group of community members has come to a head with the Decentraland DAO invited to weigh in on the future of the district.

Decentralized Districts are collectively owned areas on the map built around a particular theme, in the case of District X: Adult Content. However, it has seen little development in the five years since its inception.

On April 12, member Morph submitted a request to the DAO and the Decentraland Foundation asking OpenSea to mark the district's terrestrial NFTs as stolen until a resolution can be found for the issues of the District X community.

Morph alleges that District X Custodian RobL assumed the role without input from contributors and that his Wyoming-based LLC, called District X Land Holdings, controls the multisig wallet that holds the district's land. He claims the district pivoted from its original intent, when little development took place, and "the worst offense" is that RobL would have tried to sell the entire district.

Morph's proposal still has two steps to go until it is accepted. A preliminary vote showed that 73.94% of the voting powers were allocated to support him. He tells Cointelegraph that it was “great to see the community come out and make a majority decision”.

However, RobL denies Morph's claims about how he managed the district lands, telling Magazine:

"There was a claim that I somehow marketed the neighborhood for sale, which is also nonsense."

“However, to be clear, selling neighborhoods is not illegal. Over the past two years, many neighborhood owners have sold their neighborhoods,” he says, clarifying that he himself has none. never sold.

RobL says his voting power in the DAO alone is enough to prevent the ballot from passing. But even if he took the final step, he thinks he wouldn't be adopted.

“Why? Because [the] Decentraland Foundation and the DAO all know very well that the proposals are filled with misinformation and are on their face blatantly false…Furthermore, Decentraland DAO has absolutely no control over OpenSea,” he said.

The Decentraland Foundation says it is an external party to the situation and is not involved in the case. As of this writing, the community has not requested to participate in the proposal.
