Doctors stunned after making painful discovery during x-ray of boy's penis

They examined the 11-year-old patient who was having difficulty urinating and were stunned when they discovered that an acupuncture needle had been pushed into his bladder tube.

At first they were unable to explain the boy's pain and he was sent for an X-ray to Jiangxi Children's Hospital in central China's Jiangxi Province.< /p>

But they were shocked to find that the boy, named Xiao Huang in local media, had an 8cm needle.

Doctors interviewed the boy and he admitted to inserting the needle into his urethra himself "because he was bored" and wanted to know if it was possible.

Chief Medical Officer Rao Pindus explained that he did this about 12 hours before he could not urinate.

When his penis got sore and he finally asked for help but didn't admit what he had done.

He was taken to surgery and the doctors were able to remove the needle using surgery that was not invasive. It was also performed using an endoscope which allowed surgeons to find the needle.

During the operation, a very fine pair of extra fine forceps was used and the needle was completely withdrawn without damaging the tissues.

The boy was allowed to return home after his operation.

Dr. Pinde said young people are often too ashamed or embarrassed to tell their parents about situations like this.
