Rescue dog undergoes surgery to remove tumor from eye

A group of animal lovers have come together to save the life of a dog after its owner could not afford life-saving surgery.

Kiana Harris, 18, is extremely grateful to the strangers who helped raise over £5,000 for her beloved 10-year-old rescue dog, Bruno.

The sick pooch was diagnosed with a common condition called 'cherry eye', inherited from certain breeds of dogs, which occurs when the tear gland in the third eyelid becomes swollen and red.

Bruno needed the power of social media to fund his much-needed eye surgery before it spread to his brain.

So Kiana created a GoFundMe page and promoted it on TikTok, where she amassed over 250,000 followers who contributed to her goal.

Now, two months after the operation, Bruno is thriving and regaining his normal energy level.

Kiana, from Hawaii, said: "Bruno's surgery went great! The vets said he was great under anesthesia; he is doing much better now and definitely has more energy. "
