Drone show celebrates Concacaf women's qualifying teams as 2023 World Cup kicks off

July 23 – To mark the start of the 2023 Women's World Cup and to send a record number of Concacaf nations participating in the event, Concacaf, through Skyworx Drone Shows, staged another spectacular drone light show.

The event was organized in partnership with Telemundo and Peacock, with the networks promising to provide unprecedented coverage of the FIFA Women's World Cup through to the final on August 20

This time the show was in downtown Miami for an awe-inspiring 500 drone light show, marking the departure of Concacaf's six Women's National Teams - Canada, Costa Rica, Haiti, Jamaica, Panama and USA. Miami is the headquarters of Concacaf and it is also where FIFA recently opened a new office.

The night sky above Miami was illuminated by a synchronized flight of 500 drones to create images of the FIFA Women's World Cup Trophy, each of the flags of the six competing Concacaf teams and other football images.

Last week, Skyworx staged a spectacular 500 drone light show from the Santa Monica Pier, promoting the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup Final, which was played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, between Mexico and Panama.

"We are honored to have been part of this historic celebration and sending the Concacaf Women's National Teams," said Taylor Woodall, Founder of Skyworx Drone Shows. "Through our drone light show, we sought to capture the essence of unity and excitement that surrounds women's football while paying tribute to the teams' remarkable achievements."

The first round of matches had mixed results for the Concacaf teams. The United States started with a mere 3-0 win over Vietnam, Canada drew Nigeria 1-1, Haiti challenged England but lost 1-0 and Costa Rica lost to Spain 3-0. Perhaps Concacaf's best result was Jamaica's 0-0 draw against one of the tournament favorites France.
