Stupid relationship questions people ask that kill passion and love…

dumb relationship questions A while ago, we asked people who receive our newsletter to tell us about the dumb questions about relationships they've been asked or have been asked that killed passion and love– and boy were their telling answers.

In many cases, these stupid questions or statements from one or both people have ruined the relationship beyond repair.

Did you or a partner say something so stupid that it could have destroyed the relationship?

We bet you've been through something like this because even people in the best relationships sometimes wonder or say really stupid things to each other.

We are kindred spirits, best friends, and lovers who truly love being together. We have all the love and passion we could want, even after 25 years together.

Despite all the good things about our love and our relationship, we still said some pretty stupid things to each other or asked that could have ruined us for good.

At those times, we allowed our "stinking thought" to come true and come out of our mouths, making assumptions that weren't true at all!

And this caused defensiveness and misunderstandings.

Fortunately, we have acquired (and continue to learn) the skills necessary to get through disasters like these so that our next destination is not Divorce City.

When it comes to those stupid things, sometimes they're said in the bedroom and most of the time they're not.

Take for example what happened to Otto who made him hit the reverse button, partly because of stupid relationship questions -

After his first marriage ended, he had seen this woman who lived in a town about 6 hours away for only a few weeks when one weekend he went to visit her. Things were going great until she said something (in hindsight) that was really stupid.

She and Otto were driving through the countryside and after seeing this 92 acre property for sale, she said, "I think we'd really like to build a house here. What do you think?"

When she said that, you could have knocked Otto over with a feather.

He almost instantly asked her if she realized what she had just said and she then said, "Oops, I get it now."

There were two problems with this: the first was that they were both in a brand new relationship and in his mind, they were already together forever.

The second issue concerned the construction of a new house on this property.

When Otto was first married, he and his wife bought a property in the countryside and built a brand new house there.

This turned out to be one of the biggest financial mistakes of Otto's life.

After that Otto swore he would NEVER build another house again and here is this woman suggesting that the two would like to build and live in this new house on 92 acres 6 hours drive from her 9 year old son !< /p>

OMG… was all Otto could think of.

Needless to say, he hadn't been in this relationship for very long.

Was it because of something stupid she said?

Of course not, but that tells Otto a lot about this woman and what might happen to her if he stays with her.

So he didn't.

The lesson here is not to go on autopilot and make assumptions, but rather to be present and attentive when speaking with another person.

We all say things from time to time that we wish we hadn't said and react quickly without considering the consequences of what we say.

If this happens to you, slow down, learn from it, and realize that you can change the way you interact with your loved ones.

You can challenge your way of thinking by asking the question, "Do you really know that's true?"

You can stop your habitual reactions that are driven by your assumptions.

You can learn to manage your relationships and communication with more kindness and love, for yourself and for others!
