<i>ELLE</i> Editor-in-Chief Nina Garcia to Judge for This Year's Fashion Trust Arabia Awards

Yesterday non-profit organization Fashion Trust Arabia announced its advisory board for 2022. Among the list of fashion insiders was none other than ELLE's own editor-in-chief , Nina Garcia, who previously served on the board of FTA. The organization also shared news regarding its fourth awards ceremony, which will be held during the week of October 24, 2022.

Fashion Trust Arabia was founded in 2018 with the philanthropic aim of showcasing and cultivating designers throughout the Middle East and North Africa region. It does this in part through its annual competition and awards ceremony.

Garcia and the entire advisory board are responsible for selecting the finalist designers from the MENA region. The judging panel will choose from thousands of applicants, narrowing it down to just 24. These designers will then present their garments to the FTA judging panel as submissions for a 2022 award.

Applicants must either have MENA heritage or do business in the region. Categories include ready-to-wear, evening wear, accessories, jewelry and the Franca Sozzani Debut Talent Award, which is given to a graduate designer.

Four winning designers will receive a monetary prize worth between $100,000 and $200,000 to grow their business. Winners also receive a year-long partnership with UK global retailer matchesfashion.com, as well as sustainability mentorship from
