Emily Tennant Is in Thailand in 'Influencer' Horror Trailer on Shudder

"You probably brought me here to kill me...in the middle of the ocean...'no one can hear you scream.'" Shudder revealed the official trailer for an independent horror film titled Influencer, directed by a Canadian filmmaker named Kurtis David Harder. Yet another horror take on the darkness of influencer culture and how vapid, shallow narcissists these people are. This premiered at a few genre film festivals last year, including Brooklyn Horror, and will stream on Shudder in May. While struggling on a solo backpacking trip to Thailand, social media influencer Madison meets CW, who travels easily and shows her a more uninhibited lifestyle, but CW's interest in her takes a darker twist. Starring Emily Tennant as "influencer" Madison, joined by Cassandra Naud, Sara Canning, Rory J. Saper, Paul Spurrier and Justin Sams. It looks better than it looks in the text description, with smooth cinematography and dark twists. It all seems rather obvious, not so original, but nonetheless compelling.

Influencer tells the story of Madison (Emily Tennant), a popular social media influencer who takes a lonely, uneventful trip to Thailand despite what she tells her Instagram followers. While pondering her boyfriend's cancellation of the trip, she meets CW (Cassandra Naud, See), an intrepid and enigmatic traveler who offers to take her to some of the most Instagram-worthy places. Together, they share authentic meals and drinks with locals, discussing the differences between Madison's online presence and the CW's absence. After showing Madison all the amazing sights, things take a different turn when CW brings her to a surprise location - a deserted island completely off the grid. Influencer is genre directed Canadian filmmaker Kurtis David Harder, director of Cody Fitz, Incontrol and Spiral previously. The screenplay is by Tesh Guttikonda and Kurtis David Harder. Produced by Jack Campbell, Brandon Christensen, Tesh Guttikonda, Kurtis David Harder, Micah Henry. This originally premiered at the 2022 Brooklyn Horror Film Festival last fall. Shudder will stream Influencer on Shudder starting May 26, 2023.
