Eminem opens up about how he nearly lost his life after suffering a drug overdose years ago.

In the new episode of Paul Rosenberg's "Paul Pod" podcast, Eminem and his manager discuss his methadone overdose in 2007...and the effects it had on his thinking.

Paul remembers asking doctors about possible brain damage when things looked grim at the hospital. Naturally, the two managed to bring the scary moment back to Em's 1999 track "Brain Damage."

Eminem eventually had to be stabilized on multiple medications to regain his health, which became a hallmark artistic moment for him.

In the song “Deja Vu” from his 2009 album “Relapse,” Eminem rapped in detail about the incident and how he tried to hide his addiction from those closest to him.

"Okay, so now you see why it took him four years to release an album, B/See, me and you, we almost had the same result, Heath," Slim Shady spat, referring to The overdose death of Heath Ledger in 2008... before continuing: "Because this Christmas you know the whole pneumonia thing? / It was bologna, it was methadone, you think?"

Interestingly enough, Dr. Dre recently opened up about his own brush with death, revealing that his 2021 brain aneurysm was still nearly fatal...but the Shady/Aftermath duo appear to be healthy enough to work on new music.
