Emma Raducanu's former coach sends elegant message after 'difficult' split with tennis star

Emma Raducanu's former coach Sebastian Sachs has delivered a classy message to the former US Open champion following their recent split. The Briton is once again seeking new advice as she continues her recovery from ankle and hand surgery.

Raducanu ruled herself out of the French Open and Wimbledon this year when she revealed in May that she had undergone two operations. She and Sachs had only started working together last December, and the partnership turned out to be short-lived.

Faced with the prospect of paying his salary during a long period of inactivity, Raducanu confirmed that they had separated on Thursday.

"I really enjoyed Seb's coaching and working with him, it's a shame that circumstances have made it impossible for both of us to continue at this time," she wrote on social media.< /p>

Now Sachs has had his say, with the German explaining that delicate conversations took place before arriving at a final decision. He handled the situation with class, however, wishing Raducanu well in his recovery.

"It's a shame, of course, because I like Emma and we worked very well together on the pitch," he said. "But unfortunately difficult situations led to difficult conversations and we finally made this decision. I wish her a speedy recovery and hope to see her back on the pitch in full form soon."

A carousel of coaches symbolizes the stop-start nature of Raducanu's professional tennis career since bursting onto the scene at Wimbledon in 2021. The 20-year-old is yet to establish a long-term partnership since becoming a household name, and Sachs joins a growing list of former associates.

Nigel Sears, Andrew Richardson, Torben Beltz and Dmitry Tursunov have also been and gone, while Jane O'Donoghue and Iain Bates have already been brought in to temporarily fill gaps.

"Emma needs to find consistency and continuity with her team," said former UK No1 Tim Henman. "That goes for a coach, a physio and a physical trainer. Being injured, I hope she can use this time to put this structure in place."

The long road to recovery means it's unclear whether Raducanu will be back in time for the US Open in August, and it's believed those around him will wait to seek a new coach until it is closer to physical form.< /p>
