Energy bill calculator: see how much your gas and electricity could go up by this winter

To help you understand how much your monthly energy bill could increase by this winter, The Mirror has created an interactive calculator that takes into account the Cornwall Insight Latest Forecast< /p> Energy bills will rise again in October Energy bills will rise again in October

Households across the country are bracing for another dramatic rise in energy bills this winter as the cost of living crisis continues to deepen.

Ofgem will revise its energy price cap on 1 October; analysts suggest it could rise by an unprecedented £1,611.

The current price cap is £1,971, but energy experts Cornwall Insight say it could reach £3,582 on October 1, an increase of 81%.

Cornwall Insight then expects the price cap to rise another 19% to £4,266 in January 2023.

But the ceiling price is not really a total cap on your energy bills.

Instead, it sets a limit on the rates a supplier can charge for each unit price of electricity and gas you use.

Use our energy bill calculator to determine how much your gas and electricity costs could increase:

This means that your bill always varies depending on the amount of energy you use.

If you use more energy, you'll pay more - or use less, and you'll pay less.

The price cap also sets a maximum for the ongoing daily charge, which is what you pay to have your home connected to the grid.

To help you understand how much your monthly energy bill could change, The Mirror has created this interactive calculator.

To find out how much more you will need to pay, simply enter how much you currently spend on energy each month.

For example, if you go by Cornwall Insight's predictions, someone paying £100 would see their bill increase by 81.73% to around £181.73 per month.
