The 10 best European dribblers in 2022-23: Vinicius, Messi, Bellingham…

Watching a talented player complete a dribble is one of the most exciting sights in football - but which players have most often got fans up from their seats this season?

The likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are surprisingly absent from the top 10 dribblers in Europe's major leagues (Premier League, Ligue 1, La Liga, Bundesliga and Serie A) but there is one world-famous name among the lesser-known - lights known in 2022-23 so far.

Leroy Sane has gone unnoticed since leaving Manchester City for Bayern in 2020, but he has been in fine form for the German champions this season.

The winger has completed 71 successful dribbles in the Bundesliga and will likely have another medal to show for his efforts at the end of the season.

Samuel Chukwueze of Villarreal is also among the best dribblers of the season. It's hard not to get upset when Chukwueze receives the ball in a dangerous area with an opportunity to terrorize his counterpart.

Only three players averaged more dribbles than the Nigerian winger in Europe's top five leagues last season, and in 2022-23 he continues to deliver.

Young stars such as Jude Bellingham, Alphonso Davies, Jeremie Frimpong and Rodrygo are also making their way into the top 10. There are plenty of up-and-coming dribblers to get people excited about.

Unsurprisingly, Lionel Messi makes the cut, but narrowly misses the top spot. His future with PSG is now uncertain, but he still ranks among the best players in the world.

As well as scoring plenty of goals and assists, the Argentine is once again a threat with the ball at his feet. He was always among Europe's top dribblers in his early years, but never made the top 10 last season.

Form is temporary, class is permanent. Messi averages significantly more successful dribbles than in 2021-22 and he has already surpassed his dribbling tally from last season.

Messi has just been propelled into first place by Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior, who has statistically been the best dribbler in Europe this campaign.

In addition to his flair, the Brazilian star also had a very productive year in terms of production. With 23 goals and 17 assists in all competitions, nothing can stop him at the moment.

Carlo Ancelotti has even hailed the 22-year-old as the best in the business right now. "For me he is (the best player in the world). He created danger every time he tried to get ahead," the manager told reporters last month.
