Even though it's really good, DC's Blue Beetle faces an uphill battle at the box office

I like Warner Bros. here, because the Snyderverse must have largely died out. It was time. The universe was a mess and it needed to be cleaned up. A reboot was probably the least complicated way to go about it. Unfortunately, this can take a few casualties in its wake. "Blue Beetle" could be one of them. But there's yet another hurdle that we haven't addressed yet: direct competition in theaters.

Unfortunately, the late summer window is pretty busy this year, with Sony's "Gran Turismo" and Universal's vampire flick "The Last Voyage of Demeter" arriving on the 11th. August, just a week before "Blue Beetle." Additionally, on August 4, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” and “Meg 2: The Trench” will hit theaters. In the weeks that followed, Blumhouse's "They Listen," "The Equalizer 3," "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3," and "The Nun 2" hit the deck.

So while it's going well, the reviews for the movie are great, and James Gunn says Blue Beetle is part of the new DC Universe, the competition around the movie is high. But if this film can overcome the obstacles and become a hit? It would be a nice little success story, proving that superhero movies can continue to be used by major studios...for now.
