Executive producer and franchise star Bruce Campbell has previously confirmed that the upcoming film will have no connection to the previous films and will focus primarily on the Necronomicon.

The fifth installment is set to tell a modern urban horror story that will take the franchise out of its classic woodland setting and into the city for the first time. The film will tell the twisted tale of two estranged sisters whose reunion is interrupted by the rise of demons possessing flesh, pushing them into a paramount battle for survival as they face off against the most nightmarish family imaginable.
