Ex-Man Utd manager provides update on hostile takeover to rid fans of 'useless' Glazers

Former Manchester United manager Michael Knighton insists the potential hostile takeover of the club is 'moving on'.

There have been growing tensions with the fanbase over the Glazers' ownership of the club for years, underscored by recent protests.

MAILBOX: Mikel Arteta is Pep Guardiola and Arsenal are just behind Manchester City

Knighton, who tried to buy United in the 1980s but was given a seat on the board, is again embroiled in a potential takeover.

The club is not for sale, meaning it should be a hostile takeover, but Knighton said last month he was desperate to rid United of 'useless' Glazers .

Knighton previously told Man Utd The Religion: "We are a club in crisis and we all know the reason why. We have inept and frankly useless ownership who know little about this game of football. Everyone knows we need new ownership of this football club and that's my goal and those are my goals.

“I'm making good progress, I'm still talking to people, I have good promises and good financing. We are currently working on the offer document. Remember this is an offer hostile - it just means that the club is not officially for sale. But my intention is to present these owners with a legitimate, powerful and commercial offer to say: "You have no more road, it's time (to) leave, because your time is up".

And Ratcliffe has now provided an update to Untied fans, taking to social media to thank them for their support and insisting that "things are going according to plan".

He wrote: "Thank you EVERYONE for the wonderful messages of support. There's a lot going on behind the scenes. Things are going as planned. Sorry I can't be on this platform more, just stuck in meetings. God bless you and all the best to you all. Your support is greatly appreciated.'

Britain's richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who made a late bid to buy Chelsea earlier this year, is among those linked with a bid from United, and Knighton has previously spoken about the owner of Ineos as a potential member of a consortium.< /p>
