Households wanting to install their new Amazon Echo gadgets after Christmas Day have been warned by electronics experts not to put them in their bedrooms.

More commonly known as their AI assistant Alexa, the voice-enabled gadgets offer a range of features, including news and weather updates, setting alarms, and playing music.

However, some may not know that the product also records some user conversations.

Dr Hannah Fry, a mathematician and algorithm expert for tech companies at University College London, told the Liverpool Echo that the gadget should be kept out of private spaces.

She explained, "I think there are spaces in your home, like the bedroom and the bathroom, that should be kept completely private.
