The FA are set to investigate a comment made during Arsenal's win over Liverpool on Sunday. Players from both teams were involved in a fight late in the game and referee Michael Oliver went to inform both managers of the alleged incident.

Tensions and emotions were running high in the Emirates as the pendulum swung between the two Premier League heavyweights. Arsenal delivered the first blow in less than a minute as Gabriel Martinelli raced past Trent Alexander-Arnold before heading home.

Razor Dawin Nunez tapped in midway through the first half, but Bukayo Saka scored the first of his two goals before the break. There was more drama after the break as Roberto Firmino equalized Liverpool, but there was to be one final twist in the story.

Further talks took place between Arteta, Klopp and Oliver after the final whistle, with the matter ultimately being handed over to the Football Association. It remains to be seen whether further action will be taken with a full-scale investigation, one of the options on the table.

When speaking to the media after the match, Klopp refused to answer a question about why the referee approached him, explaining 'I think I have no right' . Sky Sports presenter Dave Jones said: "The question Jurgen Klopp was asked about by Geoff Shreeves in his interview... What we understand is that something has been said on the pitch.< /p>

"The referee, Michael Oliver, came to speak to the managers and what we are told is that the matter has been referred to the Football Association and any further comments will come from them."< /p>

An FA spokesperson said: "We are aware of an incident which occurred during the match between Arsenal and Liverpool. We are in dialogue with match officials and will review details of the incident. 'incident."

On the game itself, Klopp added: "The first goal was the opposite of everything we wanted. It was the worst thing that could happen. We should have defended better. We deserved the equaliser. 1-1 at halftime the time was okay but we got counter-attacked, we had to do the right things again and that's what we didn't do in the second half.
