The FA slammed TikTok 'in poor taste' as Stockport star nearly 'fractured his skull'

The FA have come under fire after a clip of Stockport County right-back Macauley Southam-Hales being attacked for a billboard appeared on the organisation's Tiktok feed. The defender escaped without injury but was 'very lucky' not to have suffered a serious injury.

Stockport beat Charlton 3-1 in Wednesday's FA Cup replay, with William Collar scoring a hat-trick at Edgeley Park. Although the luster was taken out of the win in the 67th minute when Southam-Hales had to be substituted for Oliver Crankshaw.

The right-back collided with billboards around the pitch after being nudged by Charlton's George Dobson which led to him suffering a head injury which soon led him to the hospital after leaving the pitch wearily. Footage from the clip showed just how serious the incident was, although the official FA Cup TikTok appeared to be trying to put a humorous spin on things.

They posted the clip with the 1980s Nestle advertising theme "That's why I love Nestle Crunch", with a screaming sound effect being heard during the Southam-Hales hoarding impact . Many felt the message was in very bad taste, especially after Bath City's Alex Fletcher had to undergo brain surgery last month after a similar collision.

One Twitter user wrote: "I see the Emirates FA Cup made a nasty TikTok. It's only been a matter of weeks since Alex Fletcher suffered a horrific head injury while doing that and never mind the fact that Macauley had to go to the hospital. Horrible, in my opinion.”

Another added: "Appalling! Making a music video to 'entertain' someone with a head injury is neither entertaining nor acceptable. Southam-Hales mother Tanya revealed on Thursday that her son had received the nod from the hospital, although Stockport boss Dave Challinor revealed his defender nearly suffered horrific injuries.
