Fashion Trust Arabia Announces 2022 Winners

In case you missed it on Instagram, Fashion Trust Arabia held its fourth annual FTA awards ceremony last night. The whole of international fashion, including Naomi Campbell, Bella Hadid and even Janet Jackson, flocked to Qatar's capital, Doha, to join in the festivities alongside Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Honorary President of FTA, Founder Tania Fares, and Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, President of Qatar Museums and Co-President of FTA. Since its creation in 2018, the trust has awarded millions of dollars to support designers from the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region, with the highest honors in different categories. The event took place at the city's National Museum and was hosted by actress and fashionphile Jodie Turner-Smith and comedian Nemr Abou Nassar.

This year six design awards were presented for ready-to-wear, accessories, jewelry and evening wear design , as well as the Franca Sozzani Debut Talent Award and the Guest Country Award, in partnership with Turkey. The winners were chosen by the FTA jury, which includes designers like Pierpaolo Piccioli from Valentino, Michele Lamy, Amina Muaddi, and Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia from Oscar de la Renta. In addition to design awards, FTA presented Huda Beauty's Huda Kattan with the Entrepreneur of the Year award for her unparalleled influence in the beauty world and for using her platform for beauty as well as philanthropy. Dubai-based Kattan's beauty line and online presence has established her as one of the richest self-made women in the world. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Valentino Garavani for his lifetime achievement in fashion design and his eponymous brand, which has been one of the most influential fashion houses in the world since its inception in 1959.
