Fast & Furious Producer Gives Hobbs & Shaw 2 Update

2019 saw the Fast & Furious franchise receive its first spin-off film in the form of Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. While not much has been said about a potential sequel, a producer for the film recently provided an update.

Producer Kelly McCormick, who recently had producing credits on 2022's Violent Night, was asked about a potential sequel. According to McCormick, she and director David Leitch (her husband) "would love" to do another film, but "there is no conversation at this time" about it.

McCormick also touched on the fact that they were trying to set up a few things for potential spin-off films, including roles for Kevin Hart and Ryan Reynolds, who both appeared in the original film as cameos.

"I feel like there's been a lot of seeds planted in trying to create a spin-off in a way that includes a Kevin Hart and a Ryan Reynolds and that kind of stuff," said McCormick at ComicBook. "And that was intentional but not necessarily because we had any plans in mind, just because it would be fun to have different players to play with if someone or we wanted to go there in a different way. So you know, I don't know, I mean Dwayne's a very busy guy and you know, he would be the one driving this stuff around so, you know, we're ready if he wants to, and until then, he won't only dominates, so all power over him."

Hobbs & Shaw was released in August 2019 and featured Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham as they reprise their roles from the Fast & Furious franchise. The film was another box office hit for the Fast & Furious franchise. The film earned over $750 million at the box office, despite receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences.
