First Look at Turkish Love Story 'Shahmaran' Coming to Netflix

"Because the world isn't yours, human. It's not just yours." Netflix has dropped a first look + date announcement video for a steamy series of Turkish love stories coming in January titled Shahmaran. The name refers to a mythical creature called "Shahmaran", half snake + half woman, who lives in a cave and falls in love with a man in the classic Middle Eastern story. In this series, the genres are reversed. Sahsu is determined to confront her grandfather, who left her mother years ago in Adana. During this journey, she finds herself in the middle of an unusual and mysterious community called Mar, descendant of Sahmaran. Believing in the legend of Shahmaran, one of the greatest symbols of love and wisdom, the Mar people await the completion of the historical prophecy with the arrival of Sahsu. Nothing will be the same when Sahsu and Maran meet… With Serenay Sarikaya and Burak Deniz as the two lovers. Looks solid - some intriguing images here. Lots of snakes, but not surprising with this story.

Shahmaran is a Turkish mini-series written by Pinar Bulut and directed by Umur Turagay - who also directed the films Karisik Pizza, 17 Mayis, Ikimizin Yerine and Portrait of Beauty previously, as well as the "Ölene Kadar" and "Yarim" series Kalan Asklar". It is produced by Timur Savcı and Burak Sağyaşar, on behalf of TIMS & B Productions. Netflix will launch the Shahmaran series for streaming on Netflix from January 20, 2023 on New Years.
