Focus on Angela Rayner is Tory attempt to distract from May election, says David Lammy

David Lammy insisted the focus on Angela Rayner was that the Tories were trying to distract from the economic problems facing voters ahead of May's election.

The Labor shadow foreign secretary was questioned over The Mail On Sunday story which claims to have proof she lied about her tax arrangements.

Defending her colleague Mr Lammy told the BBC's Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg: "She hasn't broken any rules.

“That's because of the May election and to conservatives who do not want to focus on their actions."
