Frank 'very happy' with Brentford's 'classic' transfer window; Norgaard out of Leeds clash

Brentford head coach Thomas Frank is happy to continue to bank on youngsters in the transfer market after a 'classic' window for the Bees.

The Premier League club signed Hull City winger Keane Lewis-Potter, Bologna full-back Aaron Hickey and Sampdoria striker Mikkel Damsgaard, while agreeing free transfer deals for Thomas Strakosha and Ben Mee.

Brentford have once again lived up to their reputation as a watertight vessel in relation to major Premier League recruitment fees and campaigns.

And manager Thomas Frank insisted the Bees were still content to stick to their tried and true methods.

"The areas where we wanted to improve the team, we ticked those boxes," Frank said.

"It was a classic Brentford window. We had two free transfers and three young talents who we are very happy to have.

"We are ready to focus on young players.

"We definitely have a limit to what we can and will pay. If you look at the numbers spent in this window, it has completely exploded.

"The Premier League is a different world compared to all the other leagues."

Brentford's 4-0 win over Manchester United remains one of the most notable results of the embryonic Premier League campaign.

But the Bees fought back to three draws and a loss beyond that, leaving boss Frank hoping for more from his side.

Brentford scrambled for a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace in midweek, with Frank taking heart from the point.

The Londoners take on Leeds United this weekend hoping to double their number of Premier League wins this campaign.

Christian Norgaard will miss Achilles Trouble this weekend, although Pontus Jansson and Kristoffer Ajer should be available.

"The last game was a step forward in terms of team defense," Frank said.

"We gave very little. It took some skill for Zaha to score a goal.

"For me, it's all about maintaining performance consistency."

Norgaard is expected to be inactive for several weeks, but will not need surgery.

Pontus Jansson is fit again after a foot problem, with Kristoffer Ajer also on his way back after a hamstring problem.

Leeds will be without Rodrigo after he dislocated a shoulder in the midweek home draw against Everton.

Patrick Bamford came off the bench on Tuesday night after recovering from a sprained groin and is hoping to start, while compatriot Joe Gelhardt is also in contention.

Skipper Liam Cooper, who suffered a calf problem after recovering from an Achilles tendon injury, could be named among the replacements, while Junior Firpo and Luke Ayling (both knees) are back to training.
