A little girl who was refused a visa to the UK and then sent back to the horrors of war-torn Ukraine has been refused entry again, despite the presence of a sponsor in place.

Four-year-old Alika Zubets was considered an 'unaccompanied minor' under government rules because she arrived with her grandmother, rather than her parents.

His father stayed behind to fight the Russian invaders, while his mother was unable to leave her own mother who has mobility issues.

Alika was given hope of finally gaining access to the UK when the announced it would start processing applications for unaccompanied children and she was granted a visa.

In a new blow, UK government officials have confirmed that it was approved in error.
