Google Introduces New 'Perspectives' Feature in Search

Google search might look a little different in the near future. The search engine is getting some new features, including a carousel to broaden your understanding of a topic.

In a blog post, Google announced that it is rolling out tools that will help verify information when using search. One of the most notable features introduced by the company is a feature called "Outlook".

Perspectives would feature "a range of journalists, experts and other voices relevant to the topic you are researching". This feature will appear as a carousel under the Top Stories section in search. According to Google:

This feature will give you a variety of remarkable voices on a hot topic, complementing the trusted reports you already find on search to help broaden your understanding. As with all of our news features, we are committed to providing you with reliable and authoritative information.

Although the feature has not yet launched, the company says it will soon make its English debut in the United States. The feature will also be available for desktop and mobile search.

A feature now available globally is the "About This Result" tool. When users search, three dots appear next to most results. If clicked, the three dots will bring up a window that will inform the user of the information they see. Google says this feature will be available in all languages where search is available in the coming days.

Other features included by Google are a notice that warns when a topic is changing rapidly, a tool that will provide general information about the author, and easier access to a website's About page.
