Graham Potter claims Chelsea are fully behind him as Leeds look to build up sack pressure

Chelsea boss Graham Potter has taken responsibility for his side's woes this season as pressure mounts on his position as Blues manager - but he says his players are behind him. Leeds United will be the next team to try and take advantage of the west Londoners' disastrous form as Javi Garcia looks to secure his second win since replacing Jesse Marsch.

Chelsea have endured a terrible domestic campaign and currently languish in tenth in the Premier League. The Blues have won just three of their last 17 matches in all competitions with particularly poor form in front of goal. Potter's players have only managed to score once in their last six games in a terrible run without a win.

Performances have put enormous pressure on Potter's job with the crucial next week Saturday's game against Leeds being followed by the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 with Borussia Dortmund. If the team were to lose both games, the Englishman's position could become untenable.

Potter admitted that the blame for his team's poor form lies with him as he promised Chelsea supporters he was doing everything he could to learn from his mistakes and turn things around.

"You always look at how you work, your process, your message and how you can improve it," he told reporters when asked about Chelsea's problems. "It's quite easy when things aren't going well to blame someone else, but the reality is that it starts with me and I'm looking at how I can improve my communication with the players, how I can improve as a coach how we can improve messaging and how we can improve everything. That's what you fight for.

"When you've had the results we've had, it's clear that (your message) isn't perfect, otherwise you'd have better results. This is clearly a process to get across better our message. How can we structure things in a way that helps players, because that's what we're here for.

"When the results are not good, from my point of view, you have to accept that we have not done it well enough."

Potter also suggested his players were also feeling the pressure, but he was keen to stress that getting the club out of their current situation was a collective effort.

"That's the reality we're in and I'm sure the players will take responsibility and admit they can do better too," he explained. “We are there together. I feel the support from the players, I feel the support from everyone here. I understand the frustration on the outside, but among the players, it's the desire that we all do better... that's what makes us happy.

“The results haven't been good but we keep fighting for each other. They want to do better and they are doing it. talking is one thing, we have to show it on the pitch, we have to see it on the pitch."
