Guatemala to host Concacaf U-17 2023 final, pre-qualifying groups start end of August

August 17 - Guatemala will host the 2023 Concacaf U-17 Championship Final, February 11-26 in Guatemala City and Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala.

The 16-team competition will open with four group stages with the top three teams from each group advancing to the Round of 16 where they will meet the four winners of the qualifying stages to be played August 30 - September 8 2022, in Bradenton, Florida; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and Managua, Nicaragua.

The four semi-finalists will represent Concacaf at the Peru 2023 U-17 World Cup.

The 16 teams that start in the group stages of Guatemala are drawn from the highest-ranked Concacaf nations - Mexico, United States, Costa Rica, Honduras, Canada, Panama, Haiti, Jamaica, Cuba, El Salvador, Trinidad and Tobago, Guatemala, Curaçao, Suriname, Barbados and Guadeloupe

"The Concacaf Men's Under-17 Championship is an important competition that allows some of the best young players in our region to showcase their talent and compete to qualify for a place on the international stage," said said Concacaf Secretary General Philippe. Moggio.

"We are delighted to work alongside the Guatemalan Football Federation and local stakeholders to provide an exceptional competition for the participating teams and their fans," adds Moggio.

The 19 U-17 men's teams taking part in the Qualifiers (all ranked 17 and below based on the current Concacaf U-17 men's rankings) will play in the groups below:

Group A: Bermuda, Guyana, Bahamas, Bonaire, St. Maarten, British Virgin Islands

Group B: Puerto Rico, Aruba, Martinique, Anguilla, US Virgin Islands

Group C: Dominican Republic, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Cayman Islands, Dominica

Group D: Nicaragua, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Turks and Caicos IslandsMexico have won the Concacaf U-17 title eight times and are the current holders, beating the United States 2 -1 in overtime in the final in Bradenton, in 2019.

The 39 matches of the final competition will be split between two venues in Guatemala, Estadio Nacional Doroteo Guamuch Flores in Guatemala City and Estadio Pensativo in Antigua.
