Haaland set to join Henry on Mount Rushmore of the best players in Premier League history

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has the potential to be the best player in Premier League history, according to Jamie Carragher.

The Norwegian sensation has proven himself in England after joining City from Borussia Dortmund for £51million.

Big weekend: Man Utd v Arsenal, Chelsea, Erling Haaland, Frank Lampard

He scored a rather pathetic nine goals in his first five Premier League appearances.

Haaland scored a hat-trick in two consecutive top-flight games, against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, becoming the sixth player to do so in the history of the competition.

The 22-year-old is unsurprisingly top of the goalscoring charts and it doesn't look like he'll drop from the top spot this season, as long as he stays healthy.

Kalvin Phillips, Julian Alvarez, Manuel Akanji and Stefan Ortega also joined the Premier League champions during the summer transfer window.

Liverpool legend Carragher reviewed City's summer activities and praised Haaland.

"I would probably say Man City had a very good window with the players they signed," he told Sky Sports.

"They lost a lot of attacking players but you look at Haaland and Alvarez, who are already starting to look really quality.

"Haaland is the one that jumps out at you, he looks absolutely amazing.

"I'm playing the game on Saturday at Villa Park, Aston Villa against Man City. I'm excited to watch any game, but to watch it in the flesh and comment on it for the first time and really see it off the ball. I'm really excited to watch it.

"We know we have a great player in the league but I think we have something really, really special.

"When he finishes his time at Man City or in the Premier League, we will put him alongside Thierry Henry.

"I think this boy could become the best player we've seen in the Premier League, I really believe in that. I think he's so special.

"He's off to a brilliant start and I can't say it can go on for long because that would be a lie, but I'm really excited to see him this weekend."

City are one of two Premier League teams - alongside Arsenal - who have yet to be defeated this season.
