‘Halloween Ends’ scores Peacock for Nielsen streaming top 10 debut

Peacock debuted in the top 10 of the Nielsen charts in the 10 viewing window to October 16 with "Halloween Ends." The Jamie Lee Curtis-directed thriller, which is the 13th film in the iconic "Halloween" franchise, ranked No. 8 on the overall list (TV and cinema) with 717 million minutes watched at during its first three days on the streaming service. The film was released simultaneously in theaters and on the streaming service on October 14. The title sits at No. 1 on the Nielsen Movies list.

Ryan Murphy's Hit Continues to Expand as 'The Watcher' and 'Monster' Remain in the top 3 spots. The mystery series based on a New York Magazine article took the top spot on the overall title list with 2.36 billion minutes watched in its first three days of availability on Netflix. If "The Watcher" follows the same trend as Murphy's previously released series, it's likely the drama will remain in Nielsen's Top 10 for weeks to come.

Jeffrey Dahmer's biopic starring Evan Peters came in at #3 with another week with more a billion views per minute. In its fourth week on the overall chart, the series recorded 1.1 billion minutes watched, still an impressive figure, despite the slight drop from the 2.3 billion minutes seen the previous week.

Amazon Prime's "Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power" moved up to second place in the recorded week with 1.1 billion minutes watched after the release of Episode 8. That number brings the series another win over HBO's "House of the Dragon," which landed at No. #4 in the rankings with 960 million minutes watched on HBO Max after previewing episode 9.

These are not perfect comparisons since the two shows air at different times and in different formats different. Nielsen has the ability to measure "The Rings of Power" U.S. viewership with its third-party streaming rankings, as the show streams exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, while roughly a third of "House of the Dragon" viewers aren't counted on the charts thanks to HBO's cable airings. "House of the Dragon" episodes, on the other hand, are available for Nielsen's entire streaming window since the show airs on Sundays and get the added boost of new episodes airing at the end of each window. "The Rings of Power" episodes release on Fridays, which means they're only available for the second half of the window.

"The Blacklist" joins the streaming list in fifth place with 906 million minutes viewed after the season 9 of The Drama was added to Netflix last month, almost a year after the season aired on NBC.

Elsewhere on the chart were "The Midnight Club" (867 million), "Cocomelon" (723 million), "Luckiest Girl Alive" (696 million) and "NCIS" (663 million).
