How Blockchain is Empowering Women in Developing Economies

Positioned in the global market as a tech-driven economy, Indian companies are rapidly investing in blockchain technologies to create new job opportunities.

On March 2, 2023, cryptocurrency exchange WazirX released its survey of 400 female crypto holders in India and found an upward trend among female crypto investors.

However, this uptrend is not just limited to investment. Women in India are actively joining career opportunities in web3, crypto and blockchain platforms as creators, builders, influencers, founders, developers and more. Blockchain-related jobs are opening much-needed new job opportunities for young people in this fast-growing decentralized web world.

The annual ETHWMN Fellowship in India, promoted by ETHIndia Devfolio, is an eight-week women-only program to enhance the skills of Web2 developers and enable them to transition to Web3. Improving skills, removing entry barriers for women, creating a more inclusive and remote first work environment are all helping to attract more Indian women into the blockchain workforce.

The highlighted projects show that cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology have the potential to improve the financial inclusion of women around the world. Access to such initiatives can improve the quality of life and expand economic opportunities for women.
