An Australian start-up trying to cut fuel from flights will showcase its latest electric innovations at the Australian International Airshow.
And one of the company's executives said battery-powered planes had the potential to "revolutionize" regional flying and to disrupt the way all Australians travel.
Dovetail Electric Aviation will display a small Cessna Caravan aircraft fitted with battery modules at the Victorian Weekend event next, in addition to a working electric jet engine.
Rachael Barritt, the company's business operations manager, said the demonstration was designed to excite the industry about electric planes and the changes they could bring to flights around the world.
"Aviation is ripe for disruption," she said. "When was the last time we had massive innovation in aviation?"
