How Parks and Recreation Led to Andy Samberg's Starring Role in Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Samberg guest-starred on "Parks and Recreation" once, in its second season. He had played an extremely loud and incompetent animal control guy. He fits perfectly into the wacky world of Pawnee, and his performance in this role surely helped Goor and Schur decide to approach him.

According to a 2013 TV Guide article, Samberg opened up about his feelings after being approached by the two producers. "I wasn't looking to do a TV series at all," Samberg said. It made sense, after spending seven years grinding in the "Saturday Night Live" sausage factory. "But I was a huge 'Parks' fan and I saw what those guys did with Amy [Poehler], who is basically my hero."

Ultimately, Samberg would become the star of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," which would run for eight seasons. The crime comedy will be critically acclaimed and, despite some twists between networks, a big hit.
