Qualcomm has a lot of success in XR devices (virtual reality, augmented reality or mixed reality), and its chips have been used in more than 60 XR products to date. That's an increase from the 30 devices at CES 2020.

The man responsible for this effort is Hugo Swart, vice president and general manager of Qualcomm's XR efforts. I caught up with Swart at CES 2023 to talk about the future of XR and the devices we'll see released in the next generation of products.

While Qualcomm doesn't manufacture the headsets, the Snapdragon family of processors it designs are critical to the devices' processing power and efficiency. As the company advances in its technology, we get lighter, more capable XR headsets with better battery life. And one of these days we'll have AR glasses that look like a regular pair of sunglasses or prescription lenses.
