Hundreds of British passengers were locked in a stuffy airport corridor in Italy for an hour yesterday with no access to water or toilets.

< p class="mol-para -with-font">Holidaymakers waiting to board an easyJet plane to Manchester tried to exit the sweltering unventilated room through an emergency exit before discovering that their flight had been cancelled.

Some passengers reportedly passed out with temperatures exceeding 30 C (86 F) outside, mothers undressing babies until to their nappies to prevent them from overheating.

After several delays to their flight, the customers were finally released to be told their flight had been canceled .

The passengers ended up waiting at the airport for about eight hours and said they had to make do uls to book hotels and taxis.

The long day took its toll on RAF veteran Joe Ry lance, 83, of Bangor, in North Wales, who struggled to sit on the hard airport floors.
