I Wanted To Hate Dyson's Super Expensive Hairdryer, But Guess What | Sali Hugues

This is not the column I expected to write, as I find myself unable to prove the point I intended to make. Thing is, if you find yourself in one of the very common situations of not being able to fit in, or not wanting to prioritise, the cost of the coveted Dyson Supersonic hair dryer (£329.99, to be precise) , or if you decide that your political beliefs prevent you from handing over a staggering sum of money to billionaire industrialist and Brexit cheerleader James Dyson, I could say here: “Don't worry! This much cheaper one is just as good!"

Trouble is, I tried and can't. For full disclosure, I'm have sent all three Dyson hair tools at one time or another and I honestly rate them as follows: The Corrale straightener is extremely good: I like it a lot and use it regularly, but I find it too cumbersome for traveling (instead, I always keep a Babyliss wireless version in my suitcase). I could easily do without it if necessary.

The very popular Airwrap multi-styler which I like much less. It's incredibly expensive (£479.99), difficult to use and not, in my opinion, as effective as any of the separate hair tools (hair dryer, curler , styler) which he claims to bundle into one gadget I gave mine away and prefer my GHD Creative Curl Wand (£139), Glide Hot Brush (£159) and Babyliss Rotary Hairdryer Much more affordable Big Hair (£70). Airwrap is useful if space in your home is very limited, contrary to your budget.

Finally, to pay homage where it's more than due, the dryer- Dyson Supersonic hair dryer is terrific, better than any I've owned, drying hair noticeably faster and quieter. Magnetic attachments are excellent. And while I don't normally spend my own money on other Dyson tools, when I left my Supersonic in a faraway hotel room, I couldn't swipe my card fast enough for a replacement. I would do it again.

This is where I am. I hate his politics and revere his hair dryer, and if you can't make those things work in tandem, I'd rate the GHD Air Dryer, still expensive at £119, but very light, faster than your average, and that does not make a racket.

My other choice is a Parlux 3200 Plus (formerly known as Compact, £84.95), available from m.. .
