HBO has released an official trailer for a documentary film titled We Met in Virtual Reality, which premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Have you ever met a partner online? Shot entirely in the world of virtual reality, this film captures excitement and startling intimacy of a burgeoning cultural movement, demonstrating the power of online connection in an isolated world.The film follows Jenny, an American Sign Language (ASL) teacher, who is dedicated to creating a welcoming community for deaf and hard of hearing VR chat users, and two long-distance couples developing their relationships in virtual reality as they prepare to meet in person - DustBunny; a career fitness dance instructor in the courtyards s social dance in virtual reality and his partner, Toaster; and DragonHeart & IsYourBoi, a couple who met through a virtual reality exotic dance community where they are both performers. Is this the romantic future we're headed for? I'm not sure if this is more than just another trendy chat room fad - but you never know! This document nevertheless looks stimulating.

We Met in Virtual Reality lovingly documents the stories of people experiencing love, loss and unexpected connection, expressing vulnerability around mental health struggles and questions about identity, offering a hyper-real journey into the human experience of an online world that may soon shape the future. We Met in Virtual Reality is directed by new filmmaker Joe Hunting, who is making his directorial debut. This premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.
