Ingredients and Metrics for Success You May Not Have Considered

What if these were some of the metrics you measured your success against?

1. The impact of your business.

2. How much flexibility does the founder and team have to do what really matters to them.

3. How much the company is a vector of personal development for everyone.

4. How does the founder feel about leading and growing the business.

Headcount, gross revenue, profit, years in business, customers onboarded, and capital raised... These can also be what you track and celebrate, and...how things might look (and feel) different if you added in 1, 2, 3 and/or 4?

While we talk about success in your business (which is entirely up to you to define), here are some ingredients that I have found essential in creating all definitions of success:

A deep desire to solve a problem for an audience that wants to pay to solve it. Perseverance, perseverance, diligence and resilience. Willingness to do everything when needed and to let things go as soon as possible. Opening to bounce back from the no's. Ability to overcome self-doubt. Flexibility to iterate as you learn. Don't take yourself too seriously. The humility to ask for the help you need.
