Is Antony worth all that Manchester United cash? And where does Liverpool's money go?

Has anyone seen Antoine play enough to know if he's any good? And why aren't Liverpool spending what they need?

Please tell me Antony is worth it. I can't say I even saw the guy play much to justify my feelings.

So I spent some time today watching YouTube videos and now I feel like £80m plus add-ons is just irresponsible. As well as the £80m PLUS EFFING ADD-ONS, it looks like he's playing his best on the right side, which is Sancho's favorite side of the pitch.

I then checked his stats from last year. 8 goals and 4 assists in the Eredivisie. No disrespect to the Eredivisie but 8 EFFING goals and 4 EFFING assists do not inspire confidence. I don't know why but I'm fuming. It's not even my money, so I don't know why I care so much.

I'm all for supporting the manager, but surely there are better options. I heard Cody Gakpo's kid was something too. Bigger, stronger, quick with his feet, plays on the left side of the pitch and most importantly a solid £35-40m cheaper.

I would greatly appreciate if someone monitoring the Eredivisie could provide some information. What is the probability that this man will pay up to 50% of these fees?

I'm all ears. Manc in SA (love angry Rashford)

See what happens when Man Utd play against footballers… Now that Monday has passed and the game has been won by United, it's time to take a cold look at the changes EVT have initiated. It seems to come down to one key factor. Put footballers in the team.

I know this is a new and challenging strategy for United, but with Martinez and new kid on the block Malacia, the plan seemed to work. Add Elanga and you have players who really like to try, have a ball to kick and know where to go to get it. Like we all did when we were kids.

And the best shot of the game wasn't one of the goals, it was Martinez heading for the goal line to keep the ball out, it was brilliant defending. Tim McKane

United v Liverpool is Arsenal v Man City in the cupAs the dust settles on United's deserved win on Monday night, I'm struck by a parallel with another 'team in transition' similarly upsetting the odds the latter time - Arsenal beating City in the 2020 FA Cup semi-final. They also defended hard, also won with 30% possession and had seemingly proven their doubters wrong with a performance of energy and organization when it mattered, ready to settle in the big time after this declaration of victory. They went on to win 4 of their next 14 league games.Shappo

Why Bruno's hubbub? Am I the only one totally mystified by the calls for Bruno getting a second yellow?

First of all, Bruno is a real sneak. He dives, he groans, he pretends to be hurt. He's the dictionary definition of a player you love if he plays for you and hate if he plays against you. I fully appreciate all of this.

However, I don't understand the furore surrounding the incident in question. If you get a goal late in the game, try every means to grab the ball from the back of the net, put it under your own and sprint to the halfway line; it could save about 10 seconds. If one of the opponents gets the ball first? Shit hard. It's their kick off, they have the ball, get back in position.

The only reason there was any incident was that Salah was trying to grab the ball from Fernandes, the opposition captain no less. If it was a free kick, a corner, a throw, a goal kick, etc., everyone would think that this behavior was complete nonsense. It's their ball. They don't waste time denying you possession. Why is it different because it's a kickoff? Ironically, by trying to take the ball away from him, Salah probably ended up costing his team time.Lewis, Busby Way

Where is the Liverpool fans' money? While we love to see many (but not all) Liverpool fans licking their wounds and tugging bitterly in the letterbox and comments, it seems appropriate to pose a previous question.

Where's the money, Liverpool fans? We know you love a conversation about net spend, at least while you're winning, but now the discussion turns to the need for midfield signings (what happened to good clubs doing their business early ?) to replace aging and crocked (surely we knew before the season?) you have to ask yourself the question of the transfer budget.

Klopp's record is around £64m a year nett (£318 on his time). Arsenal and Chelsea have all spent more than...
