Is WETHERSPOONS the answer to Britain’s staycation problem? Vacation costs at home are skyrocketing, but budget booze could come to your rescue this summer

Going on holiday to the UK used to be a cheap option, but the cost of living crisis , combined with rising inflation and the irritating tendency of economy brands thinking they can lower the “budget” risks making them unaffordable for many families.

According to Which, the average cost of a week's stay in the Cotswolds and Hampshire is just under £1,000 for a typical family.

The consumer giant also compared prices across the UK's biggest hotel chains and found that average nights stay in old, good hotels market like Premier Inn (£93) and Travelodge (£79) is now also more expensive.

Perhaps in response to this sudden rise in prices, an unlikely new player on the budget vacation scene has come into play in the form of Wetherspoons.

The Tim Martin pub chain now has 56 hotels across the UK, located in some of the prettiest and most picturesque locations in the country.
