'It was important to keep going': Heartbreak poses a dilemma at London Fashion Week

There was only one show in town in London this weekend, and that was the queue. But the London Fashion Week catwalks continued.

"It was important to keep going because this is a time when London needs to stick together, and in this moment part of that young designers in town risk losing their businesses,” designer Jonathan Anderson said after his JW Anderson show.

A black T-shirt printed with the words “Her Majesty The Queen 1926-2022” was included alongside a mini dress constructed from plastic computer keys mixed into an alphabet mosaic, and a pair of flip flops. plastic shark worn by model and author Emily Ratajkowski.

The catwalk began on a street in Soho, with crash barriers holding back the crowds that filled central London all weekend, before sneaking into an arcade.

Backstage after the show, Anderson gleefully defended of the incongruous combination of looks.

"London has felt absolutely amazing, over the past week. I've never experienced such energy. I don't think I've ever seen Soho so busy , and it's not all gloomy. People are having a drink but they're just really nice, you know? It's very British."

The late addition of the T-shirt - with font copied from Transport for London tribute posters that appeared on bus stops across the capital on the evening the Queen died - 'will remind me of what that moment really was, when I'll be looking at photos of this collection in 20 years,” he added.
