We are happy to announce that as of today Arduino IDE 2.0 has moved to stable and is available for download. Since launching the beta in Spring 2021, feedback received from the active Arduino community has allowed us to focus on what is meaningful to the broadest user base. It embeds a modern editor and offers a better overall user experience thanks to a responsive interface and faster compilation time.

Beyond the basic functionality (more on that later), the IDE 2.0 benefits from a number of improvements and additional support. The serial monitor and plotter can be used together, allowing users to have two windows to their data output. Before you had to choose between text and graphics, now you can have both.

In addition to the updated user interface that provides a more intuitive experience when using the Arduino IDE 2.0, speed is key. Arduino-optimized code completion and code assistance in the language server help you write code quickly and catch errors as you type. The huge amount of user feedback allowed us to identify weak points such as code support and completion, serial output, load and compile time. We have improved everything now.

A special mention goes to Paul Stoffregen who provided tremendous feedback to the IDE development team and actively developed initial support for advanced third-party platforms such as Teensy for IDE 2.0 (currently experimental).< /p>

Auto-complete when editing sketches
While typing, the editor may offer auto-completion of variables and functions based on your code and the libraries you have included:

When right-clicking on a variable or function, a context menu will offer navigation shortcuts to navigate to the line (and file) where they are declared:

Dark Mode
If your eyes feel tired, you can quickly change the settings and switch to dark mode. Some of you may have used it during the beta, but our design team reworked the whole theme dark to make it more cohesive, beautiful, and pleasing to the eye.
