It's time to lift the limits of society

Society likes to impose limits on all of us, telling us what we can or cannot do based on our appearance, the level of education we have (or don't have), the color of our skin, our accents, our size and the list could go on and on.

It's getting to the point where most of us are starting to measure our worth and worth on these things. We use them to determine, before we even try, whether we will succeed or not. We set ourselves limits and allow thoughts such as these to guide our destiny:

Not many dark-skinned people appear on TV, so I'm not going to get into the entertainment industry.

I don't have enough money to apply to this top university or college.

I love fashion but I don't have the right body type to indulge in it.

Who said?

You and the company is who. But not God and never God.

God doesn't see your limits

God doesn't see your limits. They don't guide him as he plots your destiny. In fact, when you read the Word, you will realize that what matters most to God is your heart.

“But the Lord said to Samuel, 'Do not look at his appearance or his physical size, for I have rejected him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

1 Samuel 16:7 (NKJV)

If God looked at us as we look at ourselves or as society looks at us, many of the heroes of faith in the Bible would not have become heroes of faith. If you look closely at all of those whom God has chosen to do great and mighty things, very few of them would have made it in a Hollywood movie or walked a catwalk or even been considered influencers in their societies.

But they were chosen anyway and not because of the natural gifts they possessed but because of their heart. Humble hearts, ready to listen and ready to obey.

Moses, David, Paul, Esther, Rahab, Ruth are just some of the people in the Word we see listening to God's voice, obeying Him, staying humble, and doing great things.

Change your heart, change your mind

Perhaps you have been looking for the wrong things to get your foot in the door of the spaces you want to enter. But what you really need to do is change the posture of your heart and renew your mind.

Romans 12:2 says:

And conform not to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your spirit, that you may prove what is this good, acceptable, and perfect will of God. (NKJV)< /p>

Instead of conforming to society's standards, get your mind renewed by God's Word and learn His standards. Find out from him what it takes to please him and succeed in him.

You will find, as difficult and trying as it can be at times, living God's standards leaves you much more at peace. Why is it? The Holy Spirit helps you and enables you to live up to God's standards (Romans 8:4), when society is not helping you at all. He simply sets the bar and watches you strive and fall. So now it's time to lift the limits of society.

It's time to eliminate limitations

It's time to stop the I'm not enough and I-can't-because mentality and start believing you can do anything through Christ who strengthens you. (Philippians 4:13)

It's not your intelligence that makes you stronger or your beauty that makes you stronger.

It's not your education that makes you stronger or your wealth that makes you stronger either.

But Christ and Christ alone gives you the strength and ability to accomplish what you desire, to the glory of His name. He alone will open the doors you wish to cross. You just have to step back and let Him do it.
