"Time to warm up Keir Starmer's energy plan and freeze bills at their current rate"

If Ms. Truss thinks tinkering around the edges will cut it, then she's more out of touch than the current PM

Liz Truss refuses to say how she will help 22 million homes with crippling energy bills. Which is pretty poor considering she'll probably be PM in eight days.

But Ms Truss isn't too worried about her own gas and electricity costs: she received £4,817 from taxpayers to heat her second home in Thetford, Norfolk.

Energy bills aren't going to be a big deal for him either at No. 10 or in his ladies' country retreat. But ours should be.

The removal of the National Insurance hike and the suspension of the Green Levy don't even touch the sides of this national emergency.

NI scrapping saves the richest 10% a month £93, but the poorest 10% only 76p.

Rejecting the Green Levy only returns £11 between October and Christmas.

If Ms Truss thinks tinkering around the edges will cut it, then she's more out of touch than the current prime minister. And giving the energy giants a drain worth billions to drive down prices just to pass on the £320 a year debt to the next generation would be an outrageous act of blame shifting.

The solution is not cheap. Keir Starmer's plan to freeze bills at their current rate comes at a price of £29billion - paid for by oil tycoons and savings from lower inflation.

This is the best option for one in three children already living in poverty in Thetford. And the affordable way to keep the rest of Britain warm this winter.

The murder of Olivia Pratt-Korbel made it most tragically clear that while gun crime is spiraling out of control in America, there is nothing to be complacent about here.

The pain is not the problem. New guidelines released in January 2021 provide seven years for carrying a weapon in public and 22 years for intent to endanger life.

But with £200 guns for hire in Liverpool at the touch of an encrypted app, new ways of policing are needed. This means specialized squads to break into applications and highly trained officers to pursue gunmen.

Nothing can bring Olivia...
