Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Bush honored by Citymeals on Wheels

Citymeals on Wheels had no shortage of supporters at the 35th annual "Power Lunch" on Thursday afternoon at the plaza.

Variing levels of strengths in finance, fashion, technology, media, arts, entertainment and government showed up at the event. The organization saluted longtime volunteers Barbara Pierce Bush and Jenna Bush Hager. Several of the latter's NBC colleagues were on hand, including his "Today" co-host Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie. Stephanie Ruhle, MSNBC host and NBC News senior business analyst, kept the program fast-paced as emcee. ABC News also had a strong performance, thanks to Deborah Roberts, Linsey Davis and "20/20" executive producer Janice Johnston and other members of the team. Actress Sienna Miller, Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler, Creative Director of Carolina Herrera Wes Gordon and Lauren Santo Domingo of Moda Operandi helped represent the fashion industry.

The event also honored the organization's co-founder and revered food critic Gael Greene, who passed away November 1. She and board member Joan Weil came up with the idea of ​​the power lunch in 1986 as a parody of the power breakfast, which was popular with businessmen in the 80s.

Dressed in a bright orange power suit, Roberts was among the presidents of the event, while like Lizzie Tisch, Derek Blasberg, Samantha Boardman, Margo M. Nederlander and Daniel Boulud. Nearing the end of its 40th year, Citymeals is the nation's largest nonprofit meals-on-wheels program.

As a friend of the sisters for 18 years, Blasberg reminisced about kegstands and other times past before trumpeting the careers of former First Girls - Hager taught elementary school in Washington, D.C., volunteered for UNICEF Latin America, wrote a few books and joined the "Today" show for the first time in 2009. His sister, who is a minute older, first worked at the Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum before co-founding the nonprofit organization Global Health Corps which fights for the equity in global health. She was the group's chief executive for the first nine years and earned a master's degree in public administration from Harvard's Kennedy School.
