David Beckham responds to Joe Lycett's criticism of Qatar's support

Joe Lycett was called up for playing in Qatar and Dubai before his outburst against David Beckham.

The comedian previously expressed his outrage over David Beckham as ambassador at this year's controversial FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Joe, 34, had called the 47-year-old 'gay icon' former footballer over his role due to the workers' rights and LGBTQ+ issue in Qatar - David reportedly signed a £150m contract sterling with Qatar over 10 years.

He appeared to go ahead with his threat to shred £10,000 if the former England captain did not give up his £10m World Cup deal, but later confirmed that he hadn't actually destroyed the money.

Joe has appeared in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, he revealed in his autobiography. And a fan who attended his concert at the time criticized his latest actions.

Tweeting in response to his stunt, the viewer said, "I don't understand why you're so mad because I remember seeing you play here in Qatar at the Radisson Blue at the Laughter Factory! You don't didn't seem to have trouble taking Qatari money that night?"

Another added: "A lot of people share Joe Lycett's publicity stunt shaming David Beckham. In 2015 he did stand-up in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar. Feel free to criticize David Beckham, but don't be a hypocrite about it."

And a third tweeted the star saying, "I did a concert in Qatar, tut tut hypocrisy."

Joe previously mocked the area's anti-gay laws in his autobiography, Parsnips, Buttered. He wrote: "I was doing stand-up in...
