Joe Root and Dawid Malan: Yorkshire and England batters sign new county deals

Ex-England Test captain Root, 31, has signed a two-year contract until the end of the 2024 season, while Malan, 35, agreed to a two-year extension until the end of 2025.
Root went through county academy and debuted in 2009.
Twenty20 specialist Malan joined Middlesex in 2020.
The pair are currently under central contract by England.
General Manager of Cricket Darren Gough told the club's website: "There has something to be excited about and the players are committed to this club."
Root only played three times in the county championship Yorkshire in the summer, while Malan played five games as Headingley's side were relegated to the Second Division on the final day of the campaign.
Malan missed the final month of the season as he was out with England for their T20 series in Pakistan, scoring 174 points, including 78 unbeaten in the seventh and final game as the tourists took a 4-3 win.
