Jordan edge past Lebanon to win 3rd consecutive WAFF Women's Championship title

September 2 - Jordan won their fifth WAFF Women's Championship with a match to be played at Petra Stadium in Amman.

Ahead of the second game of the West Asian Football Federation four-team championship, Jordan faced their closest rivals, Lebanon.

Both teams opened their campaigns with big wins. Jordan beat Syria 4-0 and Lebanon defeated Palestine 3-0.

Jordan were the first to score in the 26th minute through Bana Al Bitar, with Lebanon equalizing through Zahwa Arabi six minutes into the second half.

In what was a tight game, Jordan regained the lead in the 66th minute through a goal from Leen Al Btoush, and held on to win 2-1.

In the previous match of the day, Syria and Palestine tied 1-1. Palestine took the lead through Aya Abed a minute into the second half, with Syria equalizing through Aysha Hamo six minutes later. This draw was enough to leave Jordan three points clear at the top of the standings.

The final round of matches will be played on Sunday with Lebanon taking on Syria while Jordan will look to end their campaign with a perfect record when they take on Palestine.
